Method of risk controlBe aware of likelihood and divert if possible
Walk on the correct side of the road according to the Highway Code Be aware. Slow down and take extra care, particularly on slopes Only cross where you have a clear view of the road in both directions Walk slowly and to the side particularly on slopes Don't step in unless the water is clear and the depth is known Walk on fresh snow rather than compacted ice Take care not to catch finger in latches or hinges Be aware and don't use fences to aid balance Listen for gunshot. Ensure beaters are aware of your presence Check surface before climbing over. Use hand holds Divert route and keep dogs on lead Take care not to jar knees when descending. When crossing A329, ensure that you allow for fast moving traffic Look for signs of fresh digging. Warn others if you see one Scan ahead and ring the bells provided On Coombe path, take side diversion. On Elvendon Priory walks, keep to grassy bank |
